A Southern Black woman whose 37-year journey as an activist and lawyer has turned challenges in our society into catalysts for social progress and equal rights for all.
Recognizing the overlooked plight of children with incarcerated parents, she founded Foreverfamily in 1987—a grassroots initiative that blossomed into a national nonprofit.
OVER 35+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE NONPROFIT FIELD, WORKING AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP.
Under her leadership, the organization provided vital support to countless families and sparked a broader movement addressing parental incarceration and its effects on children.
In 2018, while still leading Foreverfamily, she founded Sandra Barnhill & Associates — a consulting firm dedicated to advancing social justice and strengthening nonprofit missions. For seven years, Sandra simultaneously guided both organizations, deepening her legacy of service and innovation. After 37 years at Foreverfamily, she retired in 2024 to focus fully on her consulting practice, where she continues to empower nonprofits and drive meaningful change.

MISSION
Sandra is on a mission to amplify the number of young adults involved in advocacy. She has seen so many of our youth with a passion for social justice but lacking the resources and network to sustain their devotion to be an impactful leader.
PURPOSE
Her purpose is to inspire, empower, and connect individuals passionate about enacting positive change in their communities and beyond. Through her book, public speaking, trainings, seminars, and retreats, she offers practical guidance and a supportive network for both emerging and seasoned activists, guiding them on their journey toward meaningful social impact.
VALUES
She envisions a global movement where young adults from all backgrounds are inspired and equipped to contribute to social change. By sharing her story and resources to support change makers, she strives to build a network to better equip these leaders in advocating for our community.
